Description

Latin name: Cubaris sp. "Panda King"

Size: ~1cm

Origin: South eastern Asia

This isopod is from one of the most sought after genus in the pet trade; Cubaris. Usually a very expensive isopod to get your hands on, some morphs catching several hundreds per individual. However, the Panda King morph is not as pricey! As to why, you have to make up your own mind. I however for once think that these white little cuties are very underapprechiated. With their white appearence and dark gray band across their back, they look like little ghosts as they waddle around the bark. Their skirt (The edge of their exo-skeleton) covering their cute legs when they walk.

If you want a more tropical "roly-poly" style isopod, these guys are the way to go.

Care: This species is not too hard to care for. Their requirements are not out of the ordinary, however in my personal experiance they do best with a constant availability of fresh food. But generally dislike "wet" foods like oranges or aubergine. Zucchini-peel is their favourite for sure.

Humidity: 60-80%, goes well with tropical vivariums

Food: Zucchini, Carrots, Potatoes etc.

Dead wood, leaves, moss.

Housing: Minimum recommended size of a successful setup 15x15cm.

Minimum recommended soil depth 6cm.

(Deeper soils and larger areas is always better)

Ground foliage: Dry leaves and cork bark.

Difficulty: Medium
