Description
Lasius are one of the best genus for beginners. They are hardy, cheap and harmless. These small black ants are some of the most common all across Europe, and are many times the ant referred to when people say they have ants in their garden.
Lasius queens are Fully Claustral, meaning that they don't need any food whilst laying and raising their first generation of worker ants called Nanitics. This makes this genus excellent for beginners.
